Paso Robles’ grape growing and
winemaking started as early as 1797 with the advent of
Spanish Missionaries; but it wasn’t until the 1940’s
Paso Robles visibly had a future as a premium California
wine region with the introduction of six established wineries.
Throughout the 1950’s and 1960’s, the wine
region continued to grow, yet there was still not a winery
producing for a national level until the arrival of Gary
Eberle. Through hard work and perseverance, Eberle managed
to establish this newly developed wine country as a premium
wine region by successfully catching the attention of
the wine world, consumers and media alike, to one of the
brightest and most up-and-coming California wine appellations:
Paso Robles.
